
While having a coffee in the morning has become a routine for me, matcha has evolved into a lifestyle choice. I came across matcha during a period of mental and physical struggle when I was transitioning to a simpler, less consumer-driven way of living that focused on mindfulness in consumption. Introduced to matcha by a holistic nutritionist, I have incorporated it into my daily routine ever since.
Matcha offers more than just a caffeine boost; it is rich in antioxidants and contains the amino acid L-Theanine, known to alleviate stress and anxiety, enhance cognitive function and alertness, and boasts a delightful taste. Below is my recipe for the perfect matcha latte that I prepare each morning and carry in a thermos to accompany me throughout the day.
I start with my favourite matcha, with the one the only Soar Organics ( https://soarorganics.com) Every day use Matcha. I do use the ceremonial matcha on special occasions as well. I've been using this matcha for 3-4 years now and love it, its quality & a Canadian brand. I don't buy matcha from anywhere else. They have tons of info on their site and lots of great recipes.
Ingredients
1 tsp of Soar Organic Every Day Matcha
1 cup of hot water
1 cup of hazelnut milk (psss.... this is the secret ingredient....see my recipe for hazelnut milk)
1 tsp of organic maple syrup
sprinkle of true cinnamon
Recipe
start kettle with water
in a small sauce pan add nut milk and raise the heat slowly while stirring constantly
when kettle is done add matcha to a small bowl and add a small amount of water. whisk using matcha whisk to combine . add remaining water to your mug.
when your nut milk is hot but not boiling yet remove from heat and add to mug add the premixed matcha to your cup
add maple syrup & stir
sprinkle true cinnamon on top & ENJOY
